I am supposed to be writing about the intricacies of changing a fuel line but decided I would “pre-reward” myself instead and come here…
☺
Do you remember the panic sisters from last year? Well, they are doing just fine. The world did not end when Obama was elected and all that happened is they are trying to figure out how to pay off the excessive credit card debt they have from using it as an excuse to purchase excessive amounts of automatic weapondry.
However, the panic sisters…after several months of calm, are starting to come apart at the seams and cast about for new things to justify that life as we know it is coming to an end.
Why is it that we do such things? The panic sisters are extremes, searching and scouring the news and the skies for omens that not only are they right, but that they are so right that they are about to be destroyed. It is not even a case where they are looking for proof that they are right and then launching onto some vast mission to save the world, they just want a little acknowledgment that what they long held to be true was correct and now “life as we know it” is about to end.
If you are fairly new and don’t know who the panic sisters are, you should search my blog for them. They are quite entertaining.
But every week with them there is a bubbling and boiling suggestion of what “the real problem is.”
The only real problem I see is that we spend far to much time looking for problems and too little living our lives as if they had an effect on how everything goes.
I watch, with great amusement, the online BBC newsfeed as the exact same story will change its headline on the average of three times during any given day. From the factual, to the panicked, to a more subdued but still “shocking” content that carries with it the faint glimmer of re-assurance.
And that is the pattern of how many people’s reactions (not thinking goes) – we take a “thing” that means nothing one way or the other and cast it to the far end of panic then reel it back in and try to find something reassuring to undo the panic and miss altogether what the reality of the event was.
Like the 2012 things, unfortunately most will miss what the actual event is, and I am not talking about galactic changes and cosmic movements – I am talking about a kind of global push in a new direction by mankind that is happening simultaneously (but by no means spontaneously). We will divide into two camps – the “2012 is happening camp” and the “you must be an idiot to believe that” camp and we will miss what the whole process is an indicator of.
Life is changing.
The world as we know it is changing (as it does everyday but that is another thing)
and we can block our participation in the change by trying to clearly delineate what that change will be before any of the choices have even come up.
I had a nap…I can almost spell now, amazing how sleeplessness goes right to the grammar….
